Celtic supporters give record amount to three Glasgow Charities

23rd September 2017

Celtic supporters arrived at last Saturday’s match carrying donations for three local charities: The Invisibles who support the homeless, had requested trainers, Refuweegies who provide support to refugees new to Glasgow, had requested Scottish items, letters of welcome and notebooks, and Glasgow NE Foodbank, who requested food items they were short of. All three charities were delighted with the fantastic response.
On the day regular volunteers were joined by pupils from Bannerman High and Royston Youth Action who helped collect the thousands of bags for the foodbank, load them into the vans and carry them into the container back at the church for later sorting.
Tara Maguire, Project Coordinator for the foodbank, said: “This was something a bit different and we were really excited to work alongside 2 fantastic community focused groups.”
