The role of volunteers within the foodbank
One of our most valuable assets is the wonderful group of volunteers who are generous enough to support us with their time.
We currently have approximately 50 regular volunteers and around 100 informal volunteers.
The regular volunteers help with all manner of day to day tasks including warehousing, manning the store, client contact, sorting and organising food, making up food parcels and any general tasks assigned to them. The financial worth of volunteering should not be underestimated either. If we had to pay for the support our volunteers provide we would be a much reduced service. We would like to express our gratitude to each and every volunteer who gifts us their time.
Without our Centre Coodinators we would have a far more difficult time, so our particular thanks go to Betty Arbuckle at Bridgeton St Frances in the East, Alex Howie at Blairtummock Community Hall, Liz Collins at St Enoch’s, Mary McGregor at Sandyhills Parish Church, Karen Foresti at Shettleston Foodbank and Jean Armstrong at Calton Parkhead Parish Church.
